Rawa Idli

Idli is the most loved south Indian breakfast which can be cooked in a blink miss. Rawa idli is another form of idli which is appetising and healthy. available in most south Indian resaturants of Melbourne, the rawa idli calls for a delicious tea or coffee time breakfast.

Ingredients:

  • Rawa or Suji - 1 cup
  • Green chillies (chopped into fine pieces) - 3
  • Chana dal - 1 tsp
  • Carrot (grated) - 3/4 cup
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • Cashews - 1 tbsp
  • Ginger paste - 1 tbsp
  • Grated coconut - 2 tbsp
  • Curd - 1 cup
  • Chopped coriander leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste

 

Method:

  • In a pan heat oil, add muster seeds and let it splutter.
  • Add ginger paste, chana dal, green chillies, and saute for a minute.
  • Reduce the flame and add rawa and mix properly.
  • Now, add carrot, coconut, curd, soda, salt coriander leaves.
  • Mix it well and heat for around half an hour for a little fermenting effect.
  • Grease the idli cups with oil to prevent sticking.
  • Put one cashew in the middle of each idli cup and pour the mix on top of it.
  • Steam cook for around 15 minutes in an idli cooker.
  • Serve hot with coriander and mint chutney.
